The majority of Lauren's career has been devoted to bringing about awareness and change for vulnerable populations through education and empowerment. She has worked in US public schools as an elementary teacher, special education teacher, and behavior specialist. She led work in the US based non-profit sector focused on literacy, equity, mentorship, and advocacy of vulnerable populations. Lauren has worked in humanitarian aid organizations in Nigeria and South Sudan and has traveled to nearly half of the continent of Africa. She spent four years working with Qatar Foundation, building a specialized program for students with behavioral and emotional disabilities, as well as designing student support and alternative programming for large IB and boarding schools. Lauren led the International School of Kigali as their Director, following a traumatic transition and was successful in rebuilding the culture and ethos of the school while showing exceptional progress in inclusive systems and connections to the local culture and community.
Lauren is a licensed yoga instructor who seamlessly integrates mindfulness, yoga, and breath-work practices into professional development workshops and student Intervention.
As a consultant Lauren's passion for inclusion, diversity, and connection remains. She is trained and experienced in Trauma Informed Care and brings this lens and expertise into her consulting work. Lauren is a passionate advocate for students that connects with teachers and parents to bring about change and progress. She meets schools where they are, responds to their needs, and develops a clear and measurable plan for a more inclusive structure. Lauren hopes to guide schools to reflect on who they are and are not able to serve and then build capacity to make the changes they identify.
